Another story finds a home

I'm delighted to report my story "Fortunato's Ghost" has found a home in an upcoming zombie anthology from Living Dead Press titled Dead Worlds: Undead Stories. The anthology is tentatively scheduled to be available by June of this year.

Written originally for Permuted Press's The World is Dead anthology, "Fortunato's Ghost" takes place six months after the dead begin to rise. The windswept islands of Boston Harbor have become refuge to the few hundred souls who have managed to survive. But newcomers rescued from the hellish mainland soon learn that entry into this new civilization comes at a very high price.

Though it's hard to be objective about your own work, I've always thought this was a really good story and am surprised that so many have passed on it.

The editor from Permuted said there were some things he liked about it but ultimately passed. Cemetery Dance simply sent their usual form rejection. Apex had some kind words, but said it read as if it were the beginning of a novel (it isn't). It got short-listed for Comet's upcoming extreme horror anthology before they too passed.

And now it's found a home.

I'm strangely excited about this one. It's a small press, and this is their first anthology, but I'm tellin ya . . . these guys know their zombies.

I'll post the link when it becomes available.
