Some days . . .

. . . you rely on synchronicity to tell yourself that maybe you're not such a hack after all. And other days, you get an e-mail like this:

I have to admit that I had a little trouble following your synopsis for your novel, Applewood. However, when I read your three opening chapters, I got quite caught up with the character of Dugan and the story, especially after the first chapter (which might do better not being the first chapter--Dugan, and the mysteriously abandoned "Applewood" are your grabbers).

I'd very much like to read the whole manuscript. Could you send it as an attachment in .rtf or Word format? Thanks.

(In my defense . . . the synopsis was limited to 500 words! And the story spans two centuries . . .)

It's a small, specialty, local press, and of course there's no guarantee of anything. But after fifty or so rejections on this one, it's nice that someone wants to read more, anyway.

As always, thanks guys. Course it's the kiss of death to even blog about it. Still . . . I can't help myself . . .
